We’re making cupcakes!! Our absolute favorite chocolate cake recipe, adapted by me from a old Bon Appétit magazine
Cake:
2 ounces chopped bittersweet chocolate
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1/4 c hot espresso
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup (packed) lightbrown sugar
1 1/3 cups mayonnaise
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frosting:
10 ounces bittersweet chocolate chopped
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
